Eyebrow Waxing at home !!
1Who doesn’t love a great eyebrow waxing? Not only do the brows have a cleaner look, it can make a huge difference balancing and complementing our other facial features.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 25 minutes for waxing eyebrows
Here’s How:
- Buy waxing kit. Compare waxing kit prices.
- Have enough hair. Eyebrow hair needs to be at least 1/4" long.
- Pull or pin-back hair. You want to see your eyebrows clearly, and not get any wax in your hair.
- Trim eyebrows if necessary. Brush your eyebrows straight up, and if there are any hairs longer coming out of your natural shape on top, then you need to trim. Use a fine-tooth regular comb or an eyebrow brush to push eyebrow hair up, and then just trim what is outside the shape with small scissors (preferably eyebrow scissors). If you have long or very bushy eyebrows, they may need more bulk removed, see the step-by-step to trimming brows.
- Cleanse eyebrow area. Use pre-wax cleanser on eyebrows and surrounding skin, then apply a light dusting of powder with a cotton swab. Don’t over do it on the powder, more isn’t better.
- Wax on. Apply wax evenly in the direction of hair growth using applicator (wooden stick) to the hair shaping the underneath of your brow. Be careful! You want enough wax to thoroughly cover hair, but not so thick that the wax seeps onto hair that you don’t want to remove.
- Cover with strip. Apply strip in the direction of hair growth, leaving some leftover strip at the end not attached to hair like a tab (say hair grows from left to right- leave leftover strip on right side). Press and firmly smooth hand over strip in the direction of hair growth a couple times, to ensure wax is attaching to hair and has slightly cooled.
- Wax off. Grasp onto the end of strip that isn’t attached to hair. Hold skin taut with one hand, and remove strip in opposite direction of hair growth in one quick pull, all the way to the other side. Don’t pull up, which might be your natural inclination. Press hand down on skin to help relieve some of the pain, after strip is removed. (Sounds silly, but it works!) If a little bit of wax with hair remains, simply put strip back on hair and pull off.
- Repeat. Continue with steps 7-9 for the underneath of your other brow, the middle of your brows and on top of your brows (only to clean up stray hairs outside the shape).
- Clean up missed hairs. Use tweezers to remove any hairs missed by the wax, and fine-tune the shape.
- Clean wax off skin. Remove any remaining residue, with wax remover, baby oil or petroleum jelly.
- Soothe skin. Apply after-wax lotion, or an aloe based lotion or gel.
Tips:
No-heat wax kit – do not use hot wax!
Ice cubes (optional)
All of these items are readily available at drugstores. Now let’s get started!
Step one: Brush your eyebrows, going from in-between your nose outward. This will get all your hairs in their rightful places. Using your white pencil, trace the general outline of your brows. This will give you a natural shape to work with. Any hair that falls outside of the lines will be removed. Some guidelines: Your eyebrows should start right at the inner corner of your eye. Hold your white eyeliner pencil vertically from the corner to help find exactly where to “start” your brows. The arch of your eyebrow should be approximately above your pupil. Again, hold the eyeliner pencil vertically to double check the arch. This should be the “peak” of your eyebrows.
Step two: If your skin is extremely sensitive, rub an ice cube above, below, and between your eyebrows for a few minutes to numb the area. Most people do not need to do this – eyebrow waxing is a little painful, but only for a few moments. Following the directions on your wax kit, thinly spread a layer of wax on the area in between your eyebrows. Be very careful not to get any wax on any part of the hairs within the outline, because it could cause unwanted removal.
Step three (the painful part): Stretch your skin taut with one hand. Press the waxing strip (should be included in any standard waxing kit) across the wax area. Rub firmly to make it stick. Then, with one hand still holding skin taut, rip off the strip in the direction of the hair growth. When you’re doing in between your eyes, pull upward. You did it! Now, spread a thin layer of wax below your brow outline. This is most likely to be where the most hair will be removed. Press your waxing strip firmly on the wax. When you are doing the top or bottom of your brows, pull toward your ears (this helps to prevent ingrown hairs). Rip! Did you get all the hairs? If not, use your tweezers to get those stubborn few that refuse to budge. Now it’s time to do above your brows. Some people do not wax this part, usually because the shape is already natural looking. If you are trying to make your brows thinner than their natural shape, remove more from the bottom of your eyebrows, NOT from the top! Continue these steps until all hairs outside your white outline have been waxed. Rub an ice cube on the areas you have waxed to help “calm” the skin.
Maintain your eyebrow shape with regular tweezing, or let your hairs grow out and re-wax about once a month.
Do NOT wax eyebrows if you are taking Accutane. Read: Waxing Precautions & Warnings for the full list.
Wax your brows in front of a large mirror (not hand-held) so you can see clearly.
Practice using the wax on a small part of your body, like your arm so you get the feel of it. Always test small amount of wax on hand before waxing eyebrows, to make sure it’s warm, not hot.
If you’re worried about pain, apply a numbing spray (compare prices) to a cotton swab and then to eyebrow area. Make sure not to get directly in eyes!
Be extremely careful when applying the wax near your eyes with an applicator. Though not my favorite, wax-on rollers are safer to use for eyebrows because the wax is less likely to drip into the eyes.
What You Need:
- Wax warmer
- Cream wax
- Pre-wax cleanser
- Baby powder
- Muslin strips
- Wooden applicators
- Wax remover for the skin (or you can use baby oil or petroleum jelly)
- After- wax lotion, or aloe based gel
- Tweezers
Legs Waxing at Home
0Do you like the results of a leg wax, but not the expense? We’ll show you how to wax just like the pros. Don’t expect waxing yourself to be as easy as it looks, but with a little time and effort you can get smooth legs without the high professional price tag.
Difficulty: Average
2. Get all of your materials together along with an old towel or cloth for wiping up hands or spills. Do not bathe or shower immediately before you wax (the skin will be softened by the water and can be damaged). If your skin is a bit damp or oily due to sweat, use some baby powder to soak up the extra moisture
3.The very first time should be considered a test. I recommend starting with your ankles — they are easy to reach, not too tender, and the best part: ankles are hard to shave well, but your waxing results should be splendid. Apply your waxing product according to the directions in a small patch of skin. This allows you to test for possible allergic reaction. If you are testing more than one brand or type, you can try a small area with each of them.
4.Now is the moment of truth. No matter what type of wax you are using you will make three general movements. Apply the wax or strip. Rub the strip or allow hot wax to cool. Rip the wax or strip straight backwards toward your leg(not pulling it away from the skin, but back towards your leg).
5.It will hurt! Not much at first, you will probably find the first strip doesn’t hurt as much as expected. But that is just the shock! It will sting a bit, and the follicles could get a bit swelled giving a red dotty rash or "chicken skin." Immediately after ripping the strip, put gentle pressure on the area. There should be no bleeding if you did it right, but sometimes even experts can get a few bits of skin. If this is your first test, stop after one or two strips of each kind to watch for allergic reaction. Enjoy your smooth ankles that don’t have to be shaved for over a month. Use some aloe gel to remove wax buildup and sooth skin.
6.Zip wax, the oldest and still a customer favorite
If it is your second time and you know you have a good wax for your skin type, you will continue to work your way up your legs, applying wax, waiting and then stripping. It is fun! Continue until you are uncomfortable with the stinging, then stop and work some more another day. Eventually, with plenty of practice you will be able to wax your legs easily at home, and consider moving on to other more intimate parts. Like your armpits! Happy waxing.
Eyebrows Tweezing Tips
0Overgrown eyebrow hair can be minutely and neatly removed with the help of tweezers. Though a painful procedure, one can permanently get rid of the bushy eyebrows by employing safe and simple techniques of tweezing. Find out more about plucking your messy eyebrows with tweezers by reading the following article.
1. Pick a natural light source for your tweezing.
2. Place a warm washcloth over brows for 5 – 10 minutes.
3. Exfoliate brow with a washcloth to help free up any (potential) ingrown hairs.
4. Pull skin taut and remove offending hairs as close to the root as you can AND in the direction of the growth.
5. Close pores with an astringent when you have completed the session.

How to Apply Mascara?
0When it comes to makeup,Mascara is one of the most popular beauty product.Mascara defines and brings color to lashes and highlight and dramatize your eyes.Follow these tips to get eye-enhancing lowdown on applying Mascara.
Tips to apply mascara:
- First, curl your upper lashes with an eyelash curler, if your lashes are straight. See that you take in all the lashes in the curler and that it is fitted as close as possible to the bottom of the eyelash. Apply mascara by sweeping from the top and coming down, while also coating under the lashes. Now, close your eyes and apply mascara from the roots to the tips, using full strokes.
- Use the comb side of the brush and comb through the lashes to separate them. You’ll find that it is easier to separate lashes before they dry. Repeat. Now, hold the brush parallel to your nose and coat the bottom lashes with a stroke of the mascara brush. Now, once again, comb through the bottom lashes with your eyebrow comb/brush.
- To give an extra long look to your lashes, once they dry coat the tips of the lashes two or three times with black mascara, while also drying and separating the lashes between applications. If you want very long lashes, coat them from the top.
- You must check to see if the lash base is coated as close to the skin as possible as this shows up the shape of the eye and makes the look very natural. If you want to give the impression of not having any makeup on, coat below the lower lashes with clear mascara only and then comb them with eyebrow brush/comb after application. If you want real thick lashes, coat the upper and lower lashes with clear mascara, comb them and then coat the upper and lower lashes as with black mascara.
- If you find that an excess of your mascara is deposited on the wand than required, use a tissue to wipe away the extra color before application. You can choose from a range of mascara colors such as brown, navy and green. Don’t share your mascara with anyone else, as this may cause infection in the eye. If you have the slightest irritation, take it off immediately.
- Use a thin and short brush for better hand control, so that it gets to the corner of the eye easily. You could also use powder under the eye before applying mascara to avoid smudging. However, if you use a gel-based mascara, it will play up the lashes. Give your thick mascara a more dramatic loo, while also adding volume to your lashes.
- Brown, navy and aubergine add subtle and sophisticated touches to your eyes, while burgundy looks striking on redheads. No matter what you decide, please don’t match your mascara color with your eye color.
How to Apply Mascara to Bottom Lashes
Applying mascara to bottom lashes is even easier. Apply it carefully using the tip of the mascara wand. Place a tissue beneath your eye, underneath the lash line, to catch excess mascara. You can also eliminate streaks and smudges with a makeup remover pen or a cotton swab dipped in makeup remover.
Mascara Tips
- Before applying mascara, rub the wand against the tube to remove mascara clumps.
- Do not pump the wand up and down in the tube before applying mascara; this introduces air into the tube, which will make your mascara dry out more quickly.
- Do not store your mascara in hot places, like your car.
- Replace old mascara after a year or when it begins to cake in the tube or clump more frequently
How to apply Eyeshadow
0There are two basic ways to apply eye shadow in shape shading, “rounded” and “winged”. Now you want to determine what is the best shading shape in your case. You can try applying one shading shape (rounded) to one eye and the other shading shape (winged) to the other eye (this would save you time). Then go look in the mirror and see which one looks best on you.
.
Apply the color across the entire lid from the lash line to just above the crease, sweeping upward toward the brow (without going as high as the brow). |
Run brush over darker color, tapping to remove excess.Sweep your brush over the darker eye shadow, and be sure to tap off any excess before applying. |
.
Repeat steps one through four on the other eye
Follow the same steps for the other eye, remembering to tap off excess shadow each time you dip your brush.

Eye shadow for blue eyes
If your eyes are blue, then wearing blue eyeshadow in a shade that matches your eye color exactly would bring out the color in your eyes. That’s not the only color you can wear.
Besides a blue that matches your eyes exactly try these.
- Brown, violet, mauver would accentuate the color in medium blue eyes.
- Metallic eyeshadow like silver and gold will bring out the color in blue grey eyes.
- Grey and navy would make blue green eyes look stunning
Eye Shadow for Brown eyes
Brown eyes can take most warm colors. Browns, earth tones and moss green eyeshadow make brown eyes look even more stunning.
- Hazel eyes look wonderful with green eyeshadow, with a touch of charcoal black eyeshadow in the crease and pale pink highlights.
- Brown eyes look wonderful with brown eyeshadow, with green shades and peach or light pink highlights.
- Dark brown eyes look great with mauve eyeshadow, with a touch of navy and some light yellow highlights.
Applying Blush
0Blush is often the last cosmetic to be used on face while doing makeup. The method of applying blush differs with the facial shape and the right application of blusher can make your face look longer or wider, as desired. Here are some tips to use while applying blush
When applying blush remember your face shape
For Long Face :
If your face shape is long – Apply the blush color lesser than the lower edge of the cheekbone and keep the angle horizontal for such a face to create the width of the face. For round and square face: Apply color in the middle of the face. Don’t get close on the nose.
Step 1.
In order to find your cheekbones suck your cheeks in. Now feel along the edge of the cheekbone. This is where you have to place the cheek color to make your cheekbones more prominent and enhance your other features as well.
Step 2
Now give a smile to yourself. This will reveal the apples of your cheeks. Then, dip your blush brush into the powder, shake off the excess, and brush it lightly over the apple of your cheek, moving upwards toward the ear, with short, up-and-down vertical movements.
Step 3
You should apply your blusher underneath the cheekbone but for an even stronger look you can apply some to the temple also.
Step 4
Again smile and apply the blusher to the apples of your cheeks. If you keep the blush color on the front of your cheeks then it will not only give an illusion of clear skin but also emphasize your eyes.
Step 5
In case your face cut is long and narrow then you need to create width. For this you should apply the color no higher than the lower edge of cheekbone and keep the angle horizontal. You should apply blush color only on the outer side of your cheeks, as cheek color in the middle of the face will emphasize length only.
Step 6
In case you want to enhance the length of your face then you should apply blush color in the middle of your face. The cheek color on the outer side of your cheeks will only emphasize roundness of your face.
Tips to remember when you apply blush
While selecting the color of blush make sure that it matches your lipstick color
Make sure that before applying the blush you are finished with application of powder, foundation and eye makeup
On your brush or on your middle finger place a little amount of the blush and ensure that you tap off the excess amount of blush if there is any.
In case of high cheekbones you should apply the blush in the center of your face

Dry Skin :-
Cause:-
- Frequent Washing with Hot Water: Hot water dissolves away oils from the skin making it dry.
- Ichthyosis disease: This is a rare genetic disease that may be the reason of dry skin
- Some medication: Medicines like diuretics such as Lesix remove water from the body that can cause dryness.
- Harsh weather: Excessive cold and hot weather contribute to dry skin.
- Using Non-moisturizing Soaps with Harsh Ingredients: Non-moisturizing soaps dehydrate the skin and decrease moisture from the body.
Remedies:
Take a cup with hot water and add a few drops of peppermint, calendula, chamomile or dandelion oil when you sleep. The vapors will benefit your dryness.
Mix some cooked oatmeal and honey and apply on the skin. Wash after 15 minutes
Soak a cloth in cold milk and apply it on your skin for 5-7 minutes. The anti-inflammatory properties of milk will stop itching
Olive oil softens the skin and reduces itching. Apply it on the affected area including scalp. Olive oil in your salad dressing will also get rid of dry skin.
Beat an egg yolk with 2 teaspoons each of yogurt and honey. Apply this mixture to the face and wash off when it is dry.

Oily Skin :
The great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.
Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness. They can cause a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils.
Cause of Oily Skin
Diet Hormone levels Pregnancy Birth control pills Cosmetics you use Humidity and hot weather Heredity |
Remedies:
Keep your skin very clean. Limit washing your face to two or three times a day. Too much washing will stimulate your skin to produce more oil.
Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-colored clays
Half an hour before taking your bath apply on your face half teaspoon each of lime and cucumber juice mixed together.
Wheat germ oil- Massage your face with the oil. Leave it on for 1 hour before washing with tepid water. Natural vitamin E, a powerful anti-oxidant, in this oil prevents skin damage caused by UV rays and environmental pollution. It is great for softening the skin
Lemon juice flour, turmeric powder- Make a paste. (Use all purpose flour) Plain yogurt can be used in place of lemon juice. Apply all over the face except the eye area. Let dry. Rinse. The acids in the lemon juice treat dark spots on the face clearing the complexion. Turmeric brightens the look. (Lemon juice might cause a tingling sensation). Feel the fresh and oil-free skin afterwards
Milk is an excellent oil free cleanser and it doesn’t dry out the skin. Oily skin has open and enlarged pores. Wash your face several times throughout the day with milk so that the pores are not clogged with sebum/oil. It is very important to wash your face before you go to bed at night. Make-up residues can be the worst enemies of the skin. Mix 2-3 drops of sandalwood or lavender oil with 2 tablespoon of milk and massage gently all over the face cleaning up the dirt, grime and makeup. Pay special attention to the eye area. Do not stretch or over-pull the delicate skin around the eyes while removing eye make-up. Gentle massage improves blood circulation and gives your face a healthy glow. If you have broken skin, avoid stretching in that area to prevent spread of infection
Honey is an excellent natural moisturizer. Apply a thin layer of honey all over the face. Wash it off with tepid water after 15 minutes.

Lip Care
0Loss of moisture in lip skin causes chapped lips. The loss of natural oils may happen due to exposure to sun, cold dry winds or even repeated licking. Chapped lips are dry, red and painful. They may split and bleed causing immense discomfort. Lips also are reflection of your good health. People suffering from Anemia too have lighter shaded and less supple lips. If you are eating a balanced diet then you might never face a bad lip problem at all. Including food that contains Vitamin A, E, B-carotene like carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, etc must be eaten daily on regular basis.
Simple care at home can avoid this extreme condition. Following tips can help you take care of your lips, chapped and otherwise:
- Ensure your body is not deficient in B vitamins, iron or essential fatty acids. These deficiencies can cause scaling of lips and cracking of lip corners. Take a multivitamin/mineral supplement after consultation with your physician.
- Hydrate your body by drinking plenty of water. Dehydration can cause dryness of lips. Increase your water intake during winter to keep your lips look fresh. You can also humidify the rooms to deal with winter dryness.
- Rule out allergy to lipstick dyes.
- If in spite of water intake your lips seem dehydrated, apply cool wet cloth to hydrate lips. Also try to seal in the moisture with a lip balm. Apply lip balm every hour or two to treat dry lips and to keep them healthy. Use balm with spf of at least 15 to save your lips from sun damage.
- Don’t lick your lips, it will cause more chapping. Licking lips doesn’t moisturize them.
- Lip lickers also tend to be lip biters. Biting lips removes their protective covering which causes further drying.
- Some people are allergic to flavoring agents in toothpastes and mouthwash. Check with your physician if that could be your problem.
- Creamy lipsticks can act like balms and prevent your lips from chapping. Avoid using lipsticks that can dry out your lips.
- Use a soft toothbrush to softly buff your lips to remove the deposit of dead cells that will cause more drying and flaking.
- Chapped lips are also susceptible to infections. Apply over-the-counter antibiotic ointment to avoid infection.
- If your chapped lips are due to drooling in the night, you can use zinc oxide ointment that acts as a protective agent.
- You can also try applying clarified butter or milk cream before going to bed for a few days.
- Other remedies that you could try are – rub a slice of cucumber on your lips, apply neem extract, and use aloe vera gel. A saline bath is also seen to help some people.
- Vitamin A is also important for repair of skin. Ensure that your diet includes vitamin A rich ingredients like carrots, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, whole grains and legumes. You can also have a vitamin rich juice made up of 1 tbsp. of water cress, carrot and spinach juice, 2 tbsp. wheat germ oil, one glass of tomato juice, and 1 tbsp. of nutritional yeast.

To harden soft nails, soak them in warm olive oil for about 20 minutes, on alternate days.
The best time to file your nails is when you are already wearing a polish. This will prevent splitting or breaking of nails
If you have brittle nails or split or dull nails, then increasing your consumption of Organic Silica, Vitamin B (especially B5) and MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) will surely help
It is not a good idea to remove the cuticles from your nails, as it will make the nail susceptible to infection. Rather, you should make use of good quality cuticle oil and gently push back the cuticles, with the help of an orangewood stick.
Foot Care

Hand Care
0Look at your hands now and tell yourself what you see?Hands tells everything about yourself, how you live your life and love your body..
Sometimes we forget to take care of our hands. Through we use our hands to do all the work inside and outside the house we seem to pay very little attention to taking care of them. Our hands come in contact with water, chemicals, is subject to heat and cold, we work with our hands in the garden etc. all this puts stress on the skin of our hands. The first signs of aging are visible on our hands. Here are a few ways in which you can take care of the skin of your hand.
Problems : Dry Hands
Tips:
(1). Thoroughly mix 1 teaspoon of honey and 3 tbsp of unsalted butter. Add 1 tbsp of strong herbal infusion. This will make a very rich cream. It will take a while to absorb, but leave your hands silky and smooth.
(For DRY SKIN use this hand treatment 1-2 times a week:)
1 tbsp Glycerin
1 Egg yolk
2 tbsp vegetable oil (olive, almond, or another oil of your choice)
Lemon Juice of 1 lemon
3 1/2 – 4 oz of an herbal infusion or rose water.
(2). Moisturize your hands as many times as you can in a day. Dry skin looks wrinkled and can easily be damaged.
(3) In a bowl, put an ounce of honey, the white portion of an egg, one tsp of glycerin and some barley powder. Mix the ingredients well and apply on clean hands. Let the paste sit on your hands for a few minutes and then wash off with water.
(4) Mashed potatoes (with milk) will make a great hand mask.
(5) After cooking with eggs, before you throw the eggshells away, scrape out the remaining egg white and massage it into your hands
(6) Rub a piece of lemon on your hands to give your skin a more even tone
(7) you have rough skin on your hands, this recipe will surely prove to be handy. Take out the juice of one tomato and one lime and mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp glycerin to it and massage your hand with the mixture, for 3-4 minutes. Wash off with warm water and dry thoroughly.
Homemade Manicure Tips
- Before using any homemade manicure recipe on your hands, make sure to remove the nail polish, if you have put on any.
- Always make sure to apply a hand moisturizer after your manicure in complete. It will help give extra moisture to your hands.
Hair Care
0Hair Problem
Every day, every one of us looses some hair. Our body then replaces it with some new strands as part of the many renewal processes that are built into our body systems. As we all age, ‘the reappearance of new hair’ event gradually slows down. This observable fact is more evident in men than women, whose ‘male-pattern baldness is genetically determined and can begin as early as age 20. For women, hair normally thins after age 50, and considerable hair loss before that age is very rare:
Skin Care Tips for Winter (Cold Weather)
0Hey Beautiful!
Hope you are enjoying the long winter nights sleeping – to get your much needed beauty sleep. At the same time, winter does affect your hands, skin and overall body a lot.
Here are some handy tips to make your winter better – not warmer, ofcourse, but you’ll feel the warmth of beauty once you use these beauty tips to look even brighter, happier and more beautiful.
1) Drink a lot of water:
Give your skin abundance of water. Always Carry a bottle of water with you when you go outside. another option: Tea can be a good option during cold. This gives your body extra moisture that you lost due to winter.
2) Exfoliate Your Skin
A nice body scrub can help reduce dead skin from your body. Add this to your cleansing routine once a week. Not only will you feel fresh but your skin will be free from all that old dry cells. Now you’re ready to moisturize
3) Use A Humidifier
One good option would be to put moisture back into the air. A humidifying system can help your skin remain supple instead of cracked and dry. You can buy a system from your local drug store.
4) Using a good Moisturizer, preferably oil-based
As your skin looses moisture during winters it needs a good moisturizer. Choose one that comes in an ointment form as it will contain 80% oil. Creams and lotions may tend to dry out the skin rather than keep it moisturized and soft.
5) Sunscreen
Don’t say goodbye to your sunscreen just because summer is over. Before you leave your house, apply a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15 or more. This will protect your skin from the elements. Alternatively, choose a product can combines a sunscreen with a moisturizer.
6) Gloves
It’s simple but it works! Why expose your hands to the cold. Choose a good quality pair that does not irritate the skin. If you’re allergic to wool, wear a cotton mitten underneath. It will help keep your hands dry and warm.
7) Flaxseed oil
Although it doesn’t taste very great flaxseed oil can moisturize your body from the inside. Since it is rich in vital fatty acids it can do a lot for your overall health. It is available in oil form as well as in capsule form.
8) Oil bath
A good jojoba and almond oil bath will relax your body. You don’t have to keep these for holidays. Nourish you skin by adding a few drops of these oils into your every day bath. It will do wonders for your skin.
9) Say no to blowers
Yes, sadly so. The blow drier is not your friend in winter. Try the tousled look or the wavy style this winter. Hot air dries out your scalp and can irritate your skin as well. So give the blow drier a miss this cold season.
10) Don’t lick your lips
Lips have no oil glands, we are tempted to lick our lips during winters but we should avoid doing it. Keep a lip balm in your purse and apply it when you’re tempted! Or read more advice on How to Get Rid of Chapped Lips.
Try these tips, and I can promise you’ll have a wonderful winter ahead! Take care, beautiful.

What is Threading?
1In India, Threading is the most common method of trimming, shaping and beautifying the eyebrows.
It is one of the ancient methods that originated somewhere in Arabia and then in South Asia. A very carefully done procedure using a thread and the artistic hands.
It needs a special skill to twist the cotton thread over the eyebrow hairs with delicate pressure, and correct angles to give it the desired shape. Its harmless to even the most sensitive skin. Its much comfortable and effective then tweezing.
If you haven’t tried Threading yet, we suggest you visit any Indian beauty salon or parlor in nearby area and get yourself acquinted with Threading procedure.

I am a 20yr old girl, and my skin type is dry. I have some black marks around my mouth, which makes me look ugly.
Please suggest any home remedy to get a clear glowing skin.

Scratch the ALMOND/ JAYPHAL, mix with MILK and apply on the affected area around mouth. You may also mix

How Indian Beauty Salons make Millions
1As per a very old article in Times of India titled “A well made-up dollar dream” many NRI brides already have a plan before they land up in US.
Due to the laws and restrictions against legally working in a job – and a tough competition its an easier way to start the beauty parlor at home, serve your neighbors, build a good reputation and who knows, before long you can have your own parlor in a shopping mall with high foot traffic. Reality is not too far with this million dollar dream.
As per the TOI article–
“Call it the beautiful route to success abroad. For a large number of wannabe NRI brides, the way to earn some extra moolah is to do a beauty course ‘here’ and set up a flourishing business ‘there’.
After all, the West is (re)discovering Indian beauty and young brides are the perfect messengers to take these elements of Brand India and sell it to foreigners. Not surprisingly, during the months from October to December, our local beauticians are a busy lot. Training young starry-eyed NRI brides in the nuances of make-up and facials. Add to it some extra skills of massage, yoga or henna and the package is complete.
“The number of young NRI brides wanting to train as beauticians before they fly abroad has increased considerably,” says Falguni Brahmbhatt of Shehnaz Herbal Skin Care and Beauty Clinic.
“After doing a diploma and advanced course, they just need to do another course abroad before they set up a parlour.” Which is exactly what Bhumika Patel, a 22-year-old commerce graduate, intends to do.
Patel, soon flying to London after her wedding, is currently doing a crash course in beauty treatments and skin care. She is in a hurry. “I have been told there is a lot of scope for beauticians in London. I may work for a few months before branching out on my own.” On the other hand, Priya Shah, 25, another to-be NRI bride, is better prepared.
She has also trained in reiki, yoga and stress-management and has recently added beauty treatments to her CV before she flies to USA. “I don’t like the idea of working. This way, I can earn without too much effort.” A well made-up dollar dream The scope is indeed large. Apart from the large Asian clientele that are always on the look-out for Indian massages, henna and wedding make-up, even the foreigners trip for it. All of which adds up to a sizeable income for the beautician.
Non-taxable and ease in getting a licence too (since they mostly tend to project it as a hobby instead of a business). Apart from which, as Sonali Shah of Soi beauty clinic says, certificate and diploma beauty courses are helpful in getting jobs at Indian herbal clinics abroad. It’s not so easy, but if they fail, they still have the option of operating from home.
“I know around nine students of mine who are working in Chicago, New York and London. They can earn in huge amounts,” she says. So what sells in the beauty stakes? The buzzwords are ‘herbal’ or ‘traditional’. Learn these skills in rupees and you can earn in dollars. Shraddha Shah, aroma-therapy specialist at Faceline Aroma clinic has a specific package that works well in Western countries — a blend of traditional aromatherapy with advanced beauty techniques. The course finds a number of takers among NRI brides.
“After all, whichever part of the world they go to, they are bound to find Indian clients,” says Shah.
Quite the perfect way to mix traditional beauty skills to suit Western needs and make a decent living on phoren lands.”

Beauty Tips
0“Wow! You look beautiful.”
Isn’t that the compliment all of us want to hear? Isn’t that the most interesting person who says so…well, you can hear that too, and you need not spend a fortune to do that. Forget all the skyrocketing high price cosmetics and products to soothe you and rejuvenate you. Try some of the natural and simple methods to revitalize your skin, your charm and your beauty.
- To remove puffiness from the eyelids, massage a drop of very fresh castor oil on to them.
- To cool your eyes, make eye pads using thick slices of cucumber. Another option is to use
cotton pads soaked in cold milk. Lie down and place them on your closed eyes and relax for a
while. - Putting a drop of rose water into each eye just before you sleep can also refresh you eyes.
- To prevent your lips from chapping, use hot water fermentation on your lips and then apply
a mixture of vaseline and honey. Apply this mixture about three times a week. - To prevent your lips from drying you can use a ground mixture or rose petals and milk
butter. - To delay age spots on your hand, use a piece of lemon and rub all over your hand, before
washing. This will delay onset of age-spots.
If you have no time to shampoo your hair before going out, then brush 1 tablespoon of talcum
powder or corn flour through your hair. Try this out first when you are not in hurry to make
sure that it works the way you want. - To prevent hair loss you should have a biotin rich drink. Blend bananas with honey, yogurt
and low fat milk. Drink this for a few weeks. - While blow drying and setting your hair, blow-dry at hot on the roots of the hair. Roll your
hair inwards or outwards at the ends. To improve the setting make sure the ends are evenly
rolled in or rolled out. Heat the hair for a second and then let it cool. This process of
setting the hair will last longer and make your hair look beautiful. - To condition your hair, after shampooing your hair take some conditioner on your palm and
rub it with both hands. Apply from the hair shaft moving downwards. Do not apply on your
scalp. Rinse your hair after 5 minutes. - To add extra shine and glow to your hair add 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar. Use it as a
last rinse and towel dry your hair.
Summer Care for Your Skin!
0Its Summer time! Fun time – beach time – sun bath time and unfortunately, if you do not take care of yourself it could turn into a Sun burn time.
Most people are not aware that skin cancer, while largely preventable, is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with more than 1 million cases reported annually.
Skin cancer may happen due to many reasons, but you can still enjoy your time in the sun while protecting yourself from overexposure just by following a few simple steps:
Your best bet is to stay indoor – but thats not fun…so use as many of the following actions as possible.
Midday Sun-Less time: The sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Whenever possible, limit exposure to the sun during these hours.
Seek Shade: Staying under cover is one of the best ways to protect yourself from the sun. Remember the shadow rule: “Watch Your Shadow. No Shadow, Seek Shade!”
Always Use Sunscreen: A broad-spectrum sunscreen, with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15, blocks most UV radiation. Apply sunscreen liberally on exposed skin and reapply every two hours when working or playing outdoors. Even waterproof sunscreen can come off when you towel off sweat or water.
Wear a Hat: A hat with a wide brim offers good sun protection for your eyes, ears, face and the back of your neck — areas particularly prone to overexposure to the sun.
Cover Up: Wearing tightly woven, loose-fitting and full-length clothing is a good way to protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays. Wear Sunglasses That Block 99-100% of UV Radiation: Sunglasses that provide 99-100% UVA and UVB protection will greatly reduce sun exposure that can lead to cataracts and other eye damage. Check the label when buying sunglasses.
Avoid Sunlamps and Tanning Salons: The light source from sunbeds and sunlamps damages the skin and unprotected eyes. It’s a good idea to avoid artificial sources of UV light.
Watch for the UV Index: The UV Index provides important information to help you plan your outdoor activities in ways that prevent overexposure to the sun. Developed by the National Weather Service (NWS) and EPA, the UV Index is issued daily in select cities across the United States.
Have a happy, healthy, fun filled Summer beautiful!

How to Maintain Your Fashion Status in this recession?
0Believe it or not, Its recession. Its affecting every one. Some are affected more and some are less. Many people I know have stopped going on shopping sprees, and cutting their credit cards to save some money.
So, how do we keep up with the latest fashion, and maintain that status in this recession? How do we still get that WOW! What a dress! gesture from friends and family? Here are some tips…
Go for a low cost – low maintanence dress which is really good, instead of spending on 3-4 dresses which are just so-so. This will make sure your dress stands out, and will also make sure your credit cards stay in. Low maintanance will also help you reduce those laundry bills.
If you dont want to buy something new, wake up the creative genious in you. That old skirt you always wore and now its eating dust. Mix-n-match it with a sexy top, put on a pashmina or a scarf, and there you go! a whole new look without spending a buck. You can do wonders with your existing clothes and accessories if you just be a little creative.
Ok, so you do want something new but dont want to spend much? Instead of a dress, go for an accessory. Not only will it give you a new look, it will satisfy your shopping craving also.
enjoy..have a happy shopping!
10 Fashion Tips for modern girls…
0So..here you are. I guess if you are on this page you are looking for something new. Something that has never been told or said before – let alone published on the web.
I’ll try to provide you with some novelty ideas….
Be Different:
If you know the people you are going to meet – like at a party, or the gettogether, you probably know about their dressing sense. Just give five minutes of thought to what you think they will be wearing and that will help you decide your best attire. Just do it different from what you think they will be doing.
Scarves on the move:
Scarves are a good piece of clothing that can make that lasting impression. Try it. Scarves are a great way to add a touch of color and fashion to any outfit, while pocket squares can bring a vibrant touch of color to tailored suits.
Color it (B)right:
Bright colors bring attention to an area – make sure you wear them wisely and only on your most flattering body parts.90% of looking your best is simply a choice of wearing the proper colors for your season. Your skin looks younger and healthier, eyes look brighter, teeth look whiter
Go for the short nail with the big impact. Snap up your fall look with glam metallics. Think of heavy metals infused with pigment and sheen like the patina of rich auto exteriors and you?ve nailed the right color for your next manicure.
Messy makeup lines can ruin your look! Blend, blend, blend and blend some more. This is the key to looking great.
There are days when you just can’t get the minute to fix your hair. And then, there are times when the nonchalant ponytail is just what makes an otherwise elaborate outfit look simple and polished. Try Ponytail, once in a while.
Skip Denim when everybody else won’t. If you are going to be at a place where most of the folks would come in a jeans, go for a dress. Make a statement.
Jewelry – You don’t have to invest a fortune for a great look. High quality costume jewelry is perfectly acceptable, except for rings, which should be real gold or silver. One in each hand please. Pearls and a quality watch are also excellent wardrobe investments.
Forget about sizes – Choose the clothing that fits you best. Choose misses or half sizes if they fit better. Too tight clothes only add on the pounds! Don’t wear anything that is too tight. Skirts should cover the knee; jackets should not strain with movement; armholes need to be large enough
Wear this even when you are not dressed up to your best, dont forget to wear your attitude. Above all that matters, Attitude matters alot.
Try these, and let me know how you feel….meanwhile, i will work on a few beauty tips for the Khoobsurat in you!

Introduce good amount of zinc and vitamin A in your diet. Zinc helps in the skin’s auto repair mechanism and vitamin A keeps the skin supple, preventing dryness and helping shed dead cells. Zinc is commonly found in beef, eggs and sea food whereas many dark-green leafy vegetables are rich in beta carotene, which are the body converts of vitamin A. Beta carotene is also present in surplus amount in carrots, sweet potatoes, sweet red peppers, apricots and mangoes.
-
Vitamin C improves the blood supply to the skin and helps in forming collagen, the fibrous protein which lies under the skin’s surface and gives it a smooth appearance. Vitamin C is present in citrus fruits and juices, cauliflower, snow peas, red and green peppers, broccoli, white and sweet potatoes, tomatoes and watermelon.
-
Greens are wonderful source of skin preserving nutrients and generally the darker the leaves, the more nutritious.
-
The cooking of food also matters a lot. The longer you cook the food, the greater is the loss of vitamins and texture. Do not soak the vegetables for long while washing them otherwise the water soluble vitamin C will be drained with the water.
- Drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day is also a great way to keep your skin healthy.
- Avoid excess of coffee and colas. Coffee contains caffeine, a diuretic that induces water loss.
- Hair: Hair are also an essential ingredient to look young and vibrant. Long and beautiful hair add to your appearance.
-
Eat food rich in iron and protein (amino acids) such as green leafy vegetables, red meat, milk, eggs and grains etc.
-
Wash your hair regularly and avoid using chemicals on your hair.
Immune system: besides all that which is apparently visible, there is another important ingredient to good and young looks i.e. your immune system. At a growing age the immune system needs to be strong enough to ward off all kinds of health snags. In order to keep your immune system healthy, eat food rich in vitamins E and C and beta carotene known as anti oxidants which are powerful disease fighters.
If your immune system is not good, with age the cells of your body start damaging due to the accumulated toxic compounds called free radicals. To counter that anti-oxidants are a good choice. Anti oxidants impair the ability of these substances to attack healthy cells and thus avoid some of the damage.
Finally to stay healthy and fit even while growing old, you must consume good amount of proteins. Proteins should make up nearly 10-30% of your daily diet, around 10% calories should be taken through the fats and the rest should be compensated through carbohydrates.

What to do with High Heels?
1Here are some tips for everyone who want to wear high heels.
1. “Change heel heights several times a day. Feet and legs shouldn’t be allowed to mold themselves to any one shoe shape.”
2. “Shoes are an emotional accessory; hurt your feet, hurt your feelings.”
3. “Befriend a salesperson who will tell you if a shoe will actually feel as good as it looks.”
4. “If you feel all the weight in the front of your foot, this heel’s your arch enemy — literally.”
5. “Your foot needs to ‘sit’ in a shoe. If you can wedge two fingers between your sole and the shoe — bye-bye!”
6. “Platforms should be no more than one-and-a-half inches high — or you’re dangling off a cliff.”
7. “Think Cinderella: A heeled shoe must fit perfectly. Faking it with the wrong size will get ugly.”
8. “Don’t shoe shop with swollen feet — e.g., when it’s hot or right after exercise.”
9. “To elongate your legs, ankle straps should sit above the ankle bone.”
10. “Still wobbling when you walk in your heels? Practice!”

Hair! Common Problems and Solutions
0Hair is one of the most integral part of a beautiful look. Without a well groomed hair, other grooming effort is only half useful. Lets see what are the common hair issues, and how can you solve them.
Longer hairs means greater problems here are some common mistakes you might be making with your hairs.
Always Fastening Your Ponytail in the Same Spot
Because strands tend to get caught — and broken — in bands, it’s a good idea to alternate the fastening point. “Move it up a half inch one day, then down the next,” says celebrity stylist Richard Marin. Using seamless elastic bands, like Goody Ouchless Elastics, will further minimize damage.
Combing Wet Hair from Roots to Ends
A comb is easier on fragile wet hair than a brush is, but tugging it from scalp to tips can cause breakage. First, smooth out knots with a leave-in detangler. Then, says Marin, start to comb at ends, working up in sections.
Brushing Your Hair for Shine
All you need is a few strokes to style hair and spread the natural oils from roots to ends. “Anything more than that is unnecessary friction, which can lead to breakage,” says Amy J. McMichael, M.D., an associate professor of dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Blow-Drying Hair That’s Dripping Wet
Not only will this make it difficult to style your hair, it will cause a ton of heat damage. “A blow dryer should be used on damp — not wet — hair for 20 minutes, tops,” says stylist Peter Coppola, creator of a QVC hair-care line. Before applying heat, wrap hair in a towel for five minutes, then let hair air-dry for another five.
Ignoring Your Scalp
To grow healthy hair, your scalp needs nourishment. “Massaging your head with your fingertips will stimulate blood flow,” says Christopher Mackin, a trichologist (hair expert) at the Gil Ferrer Salon, in New York City. For extra care, use a leave-in scalp treatment.
Using the Wrong Brush
The incorrect brush can not only ruin your style, it can get snagged in your hair. Generally, the longer your locks, the larger in diameter your brush should be (basically, more hair, more brush). To create volume, use a round brush; to smooth hair, a paddle shape is best.
Avoiding Hair Spray
It’s gotten a bad rap, but hair spray contains a polymer that actually locks out humidity, says Cheri McMaster, senior scientist for Pantene. And contrary to popular belief, it’s not harmful. “It’s the polymer, not the alcohol, that dries on your hair,” she says. “The alcohol evaporates before it hits your head.” Use just enough to hold your style.
Masking — Not Treating — Dandruff
Trying to nix flakes with moisturizing stylers like oils and pomades is only a temporary fix: Dandruff is actually an inflammatory scalp disease unrelated to dryness, says Dr. McMichael. The cure? A shampoo with salicylic acid, zinc, selenium sulfide or tar to eliminate flakes.
Remove Blackheads…Easily!
0So, how to get rid of blackheads? Before we go there, lets first see What are blackheads?
Many girls and guys suffer from dark black heads on their nose which makes them feel bad. Here are some remedies on how to remove blackheads. Blackheads are the slightly different sibling of zits, and like zits, squeezing them can be addictive. Composed of the same oil, or sebum, that contributes to the production of pimples, blackheads result from a building up of this oil in pores – the difference in appearance is the result of the blackhead’s exposure to the air, the reaction of which with the oil causes the trademark black color of these blemishes. And while blackheads are more easily obscured by makeup, they can seem less offensive to the sufferer, and as a result, less damaging to squeeze. But the bad news is that this is not the best way of removing blackheads – the fun stuff is always bad for us! And while squeezing them might be fun, getting rid of them altogether sounds better. So what is the best way to remove blackheads from our lives? Here are some tips for removing blackheads for good.
Like pimples, blackheads are the result of an underlying skin problem – the over production of oil by glands contained in our skin, exacerbated by the improper shedding of old skin – and rather than removing blackheads by squeezing, the best way to get rid of them is by attacking the source of the problem. A good cleansing routine is one of the best ways to remove blackheads, as it will help wash away excess oil and dead skin particles. A gentle cleanser is a good choice as it won’t dry out the skin excessively (which results in the production of even more of that nasty sebum!). Combined with the use of a gentle exfoliant, which will help remove old skin cells, this is all you need to help keep your skin blackhead free.
But we all know that blackheads can be persistent, so how to get rid of blackheads that are more stubborn? Aggressive manipulation of the skin is never good, and so tips for removing blackheads include above all else a gentle touch. Before attempting to squeeze a blackhead, open up your pores by steaming your face, and then use a blackhead remover or some clean tissue to remove the blockage. Remember – the best way to remove blackheads is to be gentle! An overly heavy hand will only force the blockage deeper into the skin, causing dreaded zits. Surely squeezing isn’t worth that.
